About lawdbl
lawdbl is a free AI-powered lawyer finder for members of the New Zealand public. The problem we are trying to solve is the difficulty in using google or other search engines to reliably find the right lawyer for the right problem.
The NZLS maintains a database of sorts but it is not particularly user friendly. Other organisations also provide resources. The quality varies.
lawdbl combines and centralises publicly available information about lawyers. It is accessible via a chatbox into which the user briefly states their issue and location. They are then given a shortlist of up to ten names. We hope that users will be able to use natural language to describe their issue then find the right lawyer.
When a search is executed, behind the scenes, the app creates a pool.* Lawyers are then selected from that pool at random, and reflected in the search results. Every lawyer in the pool has an equal chance of being shown. So, if the same search is executed again, the results may vary.
We are keen to hear from users, and we continue to develop the search functionality. In time we will extend the service to support more complex searching and interaction. Watch this space!
lawdbl was developed by The Legal Drive Limited, an NZ-based legal tech software development and consultancy company founded by NZ lawyer Steve Keall.
